day two

so yesterday i was sick of feeling like a bum and decided to head out

i went for a swim in the lane pool in the morning - very nice and refreshing. then i tanned for a few hours. ive got the beginning of something great let me tell you!

at around 2 i headed back to my room to get ready. my plan was to leave the hostel by 3 - be at the singapore zoo for 4 or so (using public transit) and then go to the 'night safari' which was a zoo that was specifially for night creatures. the last shuttle bus that would take me back to my hostel from the MRT (like the LRT) station was at 1015 so i figured i could be there until 9pm.

so it took 2 hours to get from the hostel to the singapore zoo. and because the zoo closed at 6 i didnt want to buy a $20 admittance card. AND the night safari didnt open until 7 so it was either stick around for 2 hours or...go home. i decided to take my chances with time (because i had a 2 hour trip back to the hostel) and check out the safari. so i ate some pizza, some ben and jerry's, bought a $5 jughead comic and waited...

AND WAS IT WORTH IT! the night safari is the best zoo i have ever been to. besides everything being DARK (and because the animals are nocturnal you cannot use flash photography, so i dont have any great pix) it was super awesome. i have never been to a zoo that has more active animals. i saw rhinos, hippos, lions, hyenas, a leopard, walked through a BAT cage (i totally thought of you chris while i was walking through, those things are huge! you would've loved it haha!), saw giraffes, zebras, anteaters, and a tonne more animals. the best part was that they wernt all sleeping like at all the other zoos ive been to.

and, i made it home in time to get some mcdonalds and catch my last shuttle to the hostel. i also discovered that mcdonalds here DELIVERS! i wouldve enjoyed that luxery more then a few times in highschool.

so tomorrow at 12:20AM my flight to sydney leaves. then this trip REALLY starts. the plan was to check out of the hostel and lie by the pool for more then a few hours and then make my way to the airport. but today its overcast :( so my plans are shot. maybe i will head to the airport early (more then 12 hours too much?) and check it out. Singapore is supposed to be one of the best airports in the world.

i love the love you are all adding to my page. makes me smile! i will get back to everyone one by one eventually!

lots of kisses

alia

Alia...
Just so you know, I created a blog of my own just so I could talk with ya and not have to say "from Craig" all the time.
And...so you know how crazy that is for me...my friend's poker blog that I read every day (and always comment on)...I haven't felt the need to get my own user name to comment on for that. So...that shows you how important you are!!
Anyways, I just wanted you to know that we're all thinking about you and miss you very much already! And I'm keeping that promise I made you in that nex message ok? Talk to ya soon!
Love Craig

ps - promise not to let an Australian bloke steal your heart ok? :)

HI ALIA...
that zoo sounds fantastic, and really i've never heard of a night zoo, but it makes alot of sense. actually to tell you the truth, i don't remember the last time i went to the zoo. its been so long, the lasst time im pretty sure i needed a permission slip and a bagged lunch. lol. maybe this summer i'll drag my round self to the calgary zoo, i've never been. anyways, i wish i was working on a nice tan, laying by the pool, so just pretend im laying there with you. :)
and be glad your not at home... it snowed... well at least 5 cm last night, but needless to say, im looking forward to getting outside today, almost shorts weather here... minus 9.

enjoy your flight, take care. :)

Chris. XO

p.s - good thing a bat didn't get stuck in your hair, thats kinda scary. lol.
